Haya Ben-Simon was invited to deliver a lecture at the Karl Shtivelman Seminar, an independent interdisciplinary forum for Russian-speaking audiences dedicated to fundamental questions in science, society, and culture.
In her lecture, “Cultivating Different Types of Reasoning in an Era of Data Abundance and a Changing Reality,” Haya presented findings from her doctoral research, conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dina Tsybulsky and in collaboration with Leah Yifrach. Her research demonstrates how students’ participation in a citizen science project on sleep research can foster the development of scientific reasoning, statistical reasoning, and understanding of the Nature of Science.
The lecture highlighted the educational potential of engaging students in authentic scientific research as a means of preparing them to make informed decisions in a data-rich and rapidly changing world.
