The Biology Education Research Group examines a central challenge in science education: how scientific culture, its norms, values, and practices, is mediated and recontextualized for learners and educators. Our work focuses on biology education within interconnected learning ecologies and examines teaching, learning, and professional practice across formal, informal, and digital contexts.
Our research interests include, but are not limited to, the following interrelated areas:
- Nature of Science (NOS) and scientific culture in biology education
- Biology teaching and learning through epistemic and cultural lenses
- Biology teacher education and professional development
- Identity, agency, and professional practices of biology educators
